Excel Personnel has been retained by our client in Kamloops, BC to confirm a Temporary/contract Payroll and Accounting Administrator for the next 2 - 3 weeks with a possibility of an extension or even turn into a permanent position.
Our client is in the industrial maintenance and construction industry serving Pulp & Paper, Mining, Oil & Gas sectors in Western Canada. Our client prides themselves on robust safety and quality management programs to ensure consistent service delivery and catering to specific project needs.
Job Summary for the Full Time Opportunity will include all of these duties, however, on a temp basis only a portion of these duties will be required, mainly in Payroll Administration:
The Payroll and Accounting Administrator will be responsible for accurately preparing and completing payroll and preparing financial company data. Hours of employment are based on a 40-hour work week, 8:00am – 12:00pm, 12:30pm – 4:30pm.
Job Responsibilities:
Enter new employees into software system
Organizing timesheets and employees as per their work department,
Ensuring all employee time is entered daily and submitted for payroll,
Maintaining an accurate and up to date job detail listing of each department,
Develop and maintain a pay remuneration guideline for trade certifications to assist field clerks,
Review field clerks’ entries and assist with any discrepancies,
Ensuring all pay rates and charge out rates are accurate and up to date,
Review travel allowance, LOA meal allowance and OT eligibility,
Reviewing and verifying all direct deposits,
Reviewing payroll, and completing any reversals or traces which may be required due to any errors,
Ensure up to date WCB coverage and insurance,
Review Stat eligibility,
Administer Equitable Life Benefit Plan,
Calculate, deduct and process of taxes and other benefits for all employees,
Issue ROE’s, T4’s and create any amendments as required,
Work closely with Project Managers in order to ensure all employee are paid and charged out correctly,
WCB clearance checks every pay period,
WCB reporting and payment,
Ensuring all Employees receive confirmation of direct deposit via email,
Completes and reviews Payroll Tax submissions,
Ensures compliance with laws and regulations,
Maintains employee records,
Assist in resolving issues/concerns or direct them to the appropriate resource,
Maintain the general filing system and file all correspondence,
Calculate monthly safety hours based on payroll hours,
Daily and monthly bank reconciliation, communication with bank over concerns,
Receiver General payments for weekly payroll, GST and Corporate Tax,
Prepare Month End completion to Financial Statements:
Account Reconciliation
Union Reports
Adjusting Journal Entries
Run Financial Statements and report to: President, V.P. and Bank,
Year-End Preparation,
Collection of receivables,
Prepare union dues,
Reviewing and verifying all payroll and accounts payable payments made by cheque and EFT,
Completes and reviews Payroll Tax submissions,
Completion of WCB and Canada Revenue Agency audits,
Prepare and present a variety of status financial reports monthly or more upon request,
Preparation of budgets, forecasts and cash flows,
Maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes,

Education & Experience
Office Administration Diploma or equivalent
An equivalent combination of education and related industry experience
Start Date: Monday March 29 - April 16 with possibility of extensions or turning into a perm position for the right fit candidate.
Compensation to start $22.10 per hour
