Excel Personnel has been retained by our client to recruit their next Senior Project Manager in the Kamloops Construction Industry. The Project Manager will be a Journeyman Carpenter or equivalent (with Red Seal Preferred). Must have a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience dealing with homeowners and buyers in custom residential renovations and/or new home builds in a Project Manager or Lead position. Responsibilities:

• Ensuring all work is done in a timely, professional, and safe manner
• Ensuring all work complies with current BC Building codes
• Layouts and material take offs
• Directing work of carpenters, apprentices, laborers, and sub trades
• Maintain consistent and frequent communication with the client and company owners
• Be available by phone Monday – Friday 7am – 7pm to take client/sub trade phone calls
• Completing in depth quotes of large and small scale projects; Including new home builds

Duties (must have performed duties previously):

• Accomplishes construction human resource objectives
• Manages sub-contractors
• Meets operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews; upholding production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying construction management system improvements
• Accomplishes construction project results by defining project purpose and scope; calculating resources required; establishing standards and protocols; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating staff and sub-contractors; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; evaluating and implementing change orders
• Approves construction projects by conducting inspections at critical phases, obtaining approvals from homeowners/buyers
• Prevents fines and interruptions while keeping a safe, secure, and healthy work environment and enforcing codes and WorkSafe BC regulations.
• Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging construction practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
• Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
• Acquires new prospects and work through networking
• Estimates new work from both plans and site visits through to acceptance of job

The Project Manager must also have the knowledge and ability to manage tasks such as Excavation, Foundation, Service, Framing, Insulation, Drywall boarding, all finishing works, Flooring installs [laminate, hardwood], Siding, Deck building, Tile installs with prep work, Door, window, and Cabinet install and more depending on the project Required Education and Experience:

• A Journeyman Carpenter would be an asset but not necessary
• Good leadership skills are an asset
• They must be able to read construction plans and blueprints and make precise calculations.
• They must have a good working knowledge of all aspects of renovation, carpentry and new construction.
• Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. and work in physically challenging environments.
• Permitting, building codes, and knowledge of inspection requirements
